March 27 Our Fans Are Also 60s Rock Fans Eric Burdon and the Animals, The Rolling Stones, The Who, CCR. Many who have become our fans are also fans of these bands. Comments we read on our band web site often are about the similarities they hear in our music. Our fans are you might say retro music fans. They love the music of the 60s but they also are getting aquainted with bands and artists that are new but have that same kind of 60s rock and blues rock sound. The internet has been for us the main vehicle to carry our music to our new fans. People downloading our music on their Ipods or mp3 players. We appreciate their taking an interest in our music. December 08 The SolitaireOneThe SolitiareOne is a primarly a blues and classic rock band who's sound is kind of throwback to the 60s. A sound meld of styles similar to the styles of Eric Burdon and the Animals, Creedance Clear Water, Rolling Stones and Tom Petty rolled into one. While some of the bands music reminds one of the 60s British Invasion their recording of a jazzy blues single called "Betty Grey Belle" that reminds one of a James Bond Movie with it's soulful style of music. Though at times there has been as many as 4 people in the band playing together. Yet for some reason there has never been more than two on any single recording. In most of the older recordings there has been only one person. Some of the more recent recordings have had a very very significant influence. That being of the newest member. She is a talented singer, writer, and key board player and a long time former member of successful band. So now with this new injection of additional talent with a different style- there is a fresh new sound resulting from a meld of styles. The result is that right now a number of recordings in process have two people in them. It was headed for 3 even 4 but the bass player has become unable to continue at least for some time. That is now problem for the recordings since the main member and founder of this studio band as plays bass as well as other intruments. So we will keep plugging along and keep recordings for now and enjoying the process. In the past some have commented that The SolitaireOne had in it's sound traces or elements of the styles of Tom Petty, Creedance Clearwater, and Steely Dan, TheWho, Eric Burdon, and the Rolling Stones even Neil Young was once mentioned. But with this new injection of talent it will be interesting to see what people say about the sounds of some of the new songs coming out from The SolitaireOne. October 06 Free Music Downloads We have over 30 songs on the band site of "The SolitaireOne". A bunch of those songs can be downloaded for free. Why do we do this? Because that is how we get to be known by others. We are an independent band and like so many other indie groups underground we don't have a big label carrying us. We are not gong to be on American Idol as we are stickly a studio band and we do this music for our love of it not become famous. However, we do like to share our music like anyone else. So outside of a rare live perfomance we post our music on the internet where people can get aquainted with our music just for the sake of hearing music by independents instead of always just from the large labels only.
August 01 Right Here On SoundClick Hits # 10 on Sounclick Chart Don't know if it will stay there for more than a day but it finally hit number 10 on the Guitar Rock Chart of Sound Click. Hope to see it there for at least a couple days if not longer. IF it goes any higher it will be a surprise to us because the competition is extremely tough on this chart. We will see what happens over the weekend. July 24 The Buzz on SC over Our New Song We have been pretty excited lately with the amount of buzz developing in SC concerning our latest song "Right Here On SounClick". One of our fans wrote and said we had better get # 1 on the charts because of the quality of this recording. I don't know if we'll get # 1 but it would be nice to again be in the top 10. The problem is that we placed this song in one of the charts that has the most competion. That is the Guitar Rock and Rock charts. The number of songs on those charts is huge. If we get into the top 20 we will be doing very well. We need to get a lot of listens for that to happen. But the word is getting out and we hope to soon have a lot more listens of the song. We have not yet made it available for down load. We've been watching to see if we want to do that or not. If the number of listens per day continues to increase we may be persuaded to make this song available for down load. We are just watching the statistics right now to see what happens.
People are telling us the rythm on this song is catching and they fall right into the groove of the song as they listen. Some have told us the clarity of recording really makes it easy to hear the tones of the intruments and the singing. They like this very clear recording. We never changed any recording equipment. We chose to record the song in live studio sound so people can turn up the music and hear it on a large set of speakers and feel like they are right there in the studio. The music on this recording is panned out so if one sits right between the speakers they feel more like they are right in the studio with us. So for those who love the 60s sound of the Kinks, Stones, and other similar bands from back then this might be a good listening experience. We hope so. June 23 Want to Hear Something New?MultiSound Radio playing a variety of new stuff by new artists- and of the music is available for free downloading! I'm keeping the station fresh by bringing in new music and rotating out stuff that is getting old. The station is now number 17 on the list of most listened to Rock stations on Soundclick. Soundclick boasts over a million members. You can help me make it number one. Just click on the station name in green at the beginning of this post. You're comments on this station are welcome. Let me know what you think about the music selections. Thanks so much for your support.June 19 What Are The Stars? When visiting our new internet radio station "MultiSound Radio" it's noticed that many of the song titles listed on there have stars next to them. And in most cased the stars are filled in solid. Some the stars are not filled in but just the outline of each of the stars is seen. There are 5 stars by each song. Each star that is filled in is a rating. On soundclick songs are rated by listeners who wish to rate them. Then the ratings of all the listners of a song are averaged for an overall rating. Five solid stars is the highest average rating for that song. On our station you notice that either all 5 stars are solid or all five are empty. The ones that are empty are usually newer songs that have not yet had any listeners rate them. I rarely even select any songs with less than 5 solid stars unless it is very new and I think it will eventually get a 5 star rating. So far we have managed to put more than a dozen songs on the station. Selecting songs from various charts. I will be adding a few more and over time will remove some songs as they become old enough to be retired from the station.
June 18 Launched A New Radio StationToday we just launched our radio station "MultiSound Radio" and we are featuring the band "Julienne". On Soundclick.com this band is one of the best. Of Julienne's music we picked the Folk Rock song "Look At Me Now". A song is about the downside of fame. This song gets a lot of plays by Julienne's fans of which I am also. In fact it made it to #1 on the Folk Rock chart. It is of this blog currently at #13 But this song remainded a big favorite for a long time and will probably continue to get a lot of listens- for a very good reason. The lead singer who's name is - you guessed it, Julie, is has a fantastic vocal style that makes this song very stirring and powerful. The band Julienne has been going strong since June 2006. According to their band site the line up is Julie Helen on lead and Bv's, Scott Thomas on Keyboards/bass lines/Bv's, & Gareth Miller on Drums. They claim that it's hard to describe their music but I describe it as powerful. They describe it as a melodic mixture of all-sorts of styles and I agree. They also claim on their band site that they have nearly 24 tracks completed. I've heard a few of these songs and that only left me wanting to hear more of their music. So I hope to hear more of their recordings in the near future. Often when a working band like Julienne is doing a lot of gigs it's not often you hear new recordings from them becaue they are so busy with the live performances. So it's a treat to hear a new song from them. "Look At Me Now" is a highly recommended Folk Rock recording. Please give it a listen on our new station.June 07 Summertime Reaches # 9 on the Cover Songs Chart We recently posted on our band site an old recording of a cover of the song "Summertime". Back when I did this particular recording it was just for a few friends and was never put out where the broad public could hear it. It was recorded very rough and without any rehearsals as it was not my intention to polish it. It was not until just this past week that I decided to even put it on our band site. I came across the recording in my archives and just thought it would be fun to see what some of our fans might think of it. It seems to be getting alot more plays than I expected. I don't know that that will last very long but it is still nice to see. Perhaps this is an indication that we should actually record this song again and actually polish it an mix it to be a good a bit better recording of the song. We might even consider doing a few cover songs. However, we would not be releasing them for down loading as these songs are cover songs only. However, we think some of our on-line blues fans would probably enjoy hearing a few of our renditions of some of the great blues songs. May 06 A Bit of A Slip In the Charts Our latest song "Finally Heard The Word" sliped back down a little in the blues charts of soundclick.com. We had not had that happen this quickly before. However, we noticed the whole listening of all the songs on the charts seems to of slowed slightly this week. SO we are hoping that it will pick back up in the next few days. Mean while another of our songs just started to to play time on a podcaste site this week. The song is "Twenty Twenty" and it can be found on www.podshow.com We hope that since we are new to this site we will start to get some exposure to the podcaste audiences that are now growing quite a bit. If we get back in the studio soon and finish the album we were working on we would probably release it on cdbaby within a couple of months of the albums finsh. But at the moment our recording of the album is on hold as we deal with other things that life throws at us. We intend to be back soon with more new releases though in he not too far off future. April 24 Talking about Carly Smithson makes surprise 'Idol' exit - American Idol- msnbc.comAmercian Idol has again been the show case of what it is really about for music fans. It is all about image. The ones who make it are not necessarily the top performers. But rather they are the most liked for many reasons that have little to do with their vocal ability. Yes they are able to carry a tune very very well. But they are not necessarily the best of the group. Carly Smithson showed greater command of her vocals not making outright mistakes like a couple of other contestants and yet she was eliminated from the show by the viewers votes. The judges were quite surprised. So it's in the headline this morning; Carly Smithson makes surprise 'Idol' exit - American Idol- msnbc.com Could not resist reading about it and watching the attached video.
