    GOOD Water pH

I've been off and on talking about water.   In a recent blog post I briefly mentioned pH.  I believe from what I've learned about water and it's effects on the body that, one of the characteristics of a GOOD water is it is alkaline.   In other words it's pH is greater than 7.   (a ph of 7 is where the water is not acidic or alkaline - an equilibrium  state that water is seldom found in for long)   Ultra Pure Water has a pH of 7 which is difficult to maintain in practical practice. (actually is a hair under 7 with a resistivity of 18 megohm for those who are splitting hairs)  Ultra Pure Water therefore must not come into contact with the atmosphere or it will quickly drop below 7 as it trys to saturate with the carbon dioxide in the air it comes into contact with.  Water  that is below 7 is acidic.   In other words it has more  H+ (hydrogen ions)  then it does OH-  (Hydroxide ions)    The pH scale which runs from 0 to 14 is a negative logarithm of the concentration of hydrogen ions.   Hence pH is sometimes refered to as the power of hydrogen.   As I mentioned anything higher than 7 is alkaline.   What I would say is a good pH of a GOOD water is a pH of 9.5    A GOOD water with a pH of 9.5 is much better for our bodies.   Here is an interesting thing.   When a drop of blood comes into contact with vinegar (very low pH)  it coagulates!!     According to Heart Specialist and Director of teh Water Institue of Japan;  "Blood plasma and other fluids that surround the cells in the body have a pH of 7.2 to 7.3."     The human body works to keep that pH even it it means it must borrow calcium form other parts of the body to help keep that blood ph at 7.2.    If the blood pH were below 7 it would be in danger of coagulating in the blood vessels.   That could lead to serious and lethal consequences.

Blood is where it all happens for the body.  And of the 5 liters of blood in your body 90% of it is water!  With about 100,000 heart beats a day your heart pumps this liquid through your whole body bringing nutrients to the cells and taking toxins away from the cells.  That blood needs to be in a healthy state to do it's job well.  A body that is extemely acidic (acidosis) is not going to easily protect the blood. It will cost the something in terms of robbing the minerals such as calicum from somewhere to buffer that blood from the acids.  Apparently from the blood samples that Dr. Robert young has placed under the microscope some people are so acidic that the ph of their blood does drop below 7 at times.  THis as mentioned before is dangerous.  BLood clots are more likely to happen.

According to Dr Robert Young in his book   "The pH Miracle for Weight Loss"  blood cells are are constantly being made in the body.  It the small intestine where blood cells are normally made.  It that  gets into very bad shape from too much acidic foods and beverages then the intestinal tract will stop producing blood cells.  So the body then turns other cells of the body into blood cells - again robbing other organs of the body to do this.  One way to keep that intestine from getting so bad off is to keep it flushed with a GOOD alkaline water and to cut back on the acid foods and eat more alkaline foods like vegetables.

So helping keep the body alkaline is a kindness to the body.   It just makes sense not to work against you body and overload it with acidic foods and beverages.  It works hard to keep the biochemistry benefical why should we try to destroy that with poor diet and life styles.     Well I'll blog some more on this later.

A Way To Turn Distilled Water Into A Better Water

In their  book “The pH Miracle for Weight Loss” Robert O. Young, ph D and Shelly Redford Young describe how to improve distilled water by raising the pH and increasing the level of oxygen and electron activity in the water.  This done either by simply adding ph drops to the distilled water or adding sodium bicarbonate.  If one wants to use the pH drops they simply add 16 drops of 2 percent sodium chlorite to 1 liter of the right water.    The alternative to the use of pH drops is to add 2 to 3 teaspoons of the sodium bicarbonate to 1 liter of water and stir until dissolved. This works pretty well to make distilled water into a better water by raising the pH and increasing the level of oxygen and electron activity in the water.

Ph drops can be found in the health food store.  Just go to the health food store and ask for pH drops.   Make sure the pH drops you get are clear.   If they are cloudy they have lost their potency.   Ph drops are either sodium chlorite or sodium silicate.

To further add nutrients and minerals to the water one might wish to add some mixed green powder.  This is also found in the health food store.   A good green powder will contain around some 125 easily absorbed vitamins and minerals, along with macronutrients including amino acids and fiber.  They will contain both soluble and insoluble fiber.   These are derived from a number of plant sources such as alfalfa leaf, aloe, avocado powder, bilberry leaf, oat grass, celery, lecithin, wheat grass, and many other greens.   Look at the different green powders in the health food store and see which one has most of 45 different ingredients.

    I'm Talking About Water Again.

Well this blog entry is more about water.   Why do I talk about water so much anyway?  Well I worked with water for many years as an engineer and manager of an Ultra Pure Water Plant in the high tech industry.  My job was to provide for the micro circuit fabs water that was so clean that it was undrinkable.  It was water that would eat up my shoes!!   Yes when everything is removed from water it becomes a very powerful solvent.   We removed all the particles, and we removed all the dissolved solids, and the colloids and he dissolved gases.   How did we do that?  Primarily with Reverse Osmosis and Deionization.  But we also used filtration of various types.   From coarse depth filtration of torturous path and absorption to submicron depth to submicron level and even down to ultra filtration.

We used ultraviolet light to kill any bacteria that might still make it through such tight filtration.  We kept the water moving in extremely clean PVDF piping at a velocity of around 5 feet per second.   Make up of new water to replace what was used was around 518,000 gallons per day.   What did the people in the fabs do with that water?    They used it in processing wafers that had on them micro circuits.  Yes the micro circuits in the chips that are used in computers and a lot of other high tech gadgets and instruments.  The water was so clean they used it to clean off those wafers in many of the steps in the process.  And so we had all that wonderful clean water and yet we never drank any of it. Why?

It’s because water that clean is a solvent that is very powerful and it likes to dissolve and hold in it any minerals that it comes in contact with.   That includes the minerals that are essential to the health of your body.   RO water and De-ionized water and even de-stilled water has a hunger for minerals such as calcium, zinc, magnesium, potassium and much more.   So we never drank the water in the ultra pure water plant because we did not want to loose those minerals from our body that our body had done so great a job getting from our foods.

I personally had seen what a lack of minerals can do to someone.   It’s rare but it does happen.   So here’s the thing that is kind of interesting.   We need to drink a lot of water but if we drink water that has all the good minerals removed we run the risk of washing the minerals out of our body.  SO drinking RO water or de-stilled water or De-ionized water is not really helping your body.   Now I over simplified the explanations here to avoid going to much into the chemistry at least for now.   But the bottom line is we not only need a lot of water but a lot of GOOD water.  Most water that people are drinking is BAD water.   BAD water is water that is acidic or contaminated with impurities like pesticides and dangerous metals and harmful organisms.   And even a lot of the bottle water is not much better than the tap water.   And as I mentioned before RO water and de-stilled water is hungry for minerals and so drinking a lot of that is not something I would want to do.  I know what pure water can do and I know what low ph can do.   I prefer for myself to drink a GOOD water.   What do I define as GOOD water?

Well there is some various definitions but I think the one that I’ve seen that seems to be more realistically attainable and most effective in hydrating the body is:

    1)      Water that has small molecular clusters of no more than 6 molecules per cluster.   (I will try to discuss this molecular behavior another time.)

    2)      Water that has no impurities like pesticides and dangerous metals, or toxins, or harmful organisms.

    3)      Water that has a pH of at least 9.5  (will discuss pH another time)

    4)      Water that has an ORP (oxygen reduction potential) of -50 mV or better. (another subject for later discussion)

    5)      A water that has an rH2 of 22 or less.  (yes you guessed it yet another topic for later.)

I will write some more about this in the near future.
