September 09 The SolitaireOne Is Still Making Music The SolitaireOne is now on "The Next Big Sound" @ http://thesolitaireone.tnbsound.com/ as well as on Twitter.com. Also found on www.myspace.com/quotthesolitaireonequot . The SolitaireOne is still making music. March 27 Our Fans Are Also 60s Rock Fans Eric Burdon and the Animals, The Rolling Stones, The Who, CCR. Many who have become our fans are also fans of these bands. Comments we read on our band web site often are about the similarities they hear in our music. Our fans are you might say retro music fans. They love the music of the 60s but they also are getting aquainted with bands and artists that are new but have that same kind of 60s rock and blues rock sound. The internet has been for us the main vehicle to carry our music to our new fans. People downloading our music on their Ipods or mp3 players. We appreciate their taking an interest in our music. March 25 Talking about More Tickets in Hard TimesPeople are getting upset now that the police are giving out 50 to 90 percent more moving violation tickets. They don't like the fact that the police departments are trying to raise more revenue by spending more time enforcing speed limits etc. But if a motorist is breaking the law does it matter what is motivating the police to do their job? Stand on any busy street corner and see if you don't see a moving violation within 5 minutes. Every time I get out on the road, I see people tail gate, cut each other off, not using signals, speeding through school zones, drive aggressively. It's pretty much the same where ever I go. The only thing that seems to work faily well is the intersection cameras. I noticed the number of people running red lights at the interesections with cameras has decreased. And of course many of the ones who get caught on those cameras argue they are not wrong - again showing hard core violators are going to protest keep on violating the traffic laws. In fact in one community the camera got a really great picture of a motorist making an obscene gesture at the camera while he ran the red light. So I'm convinced the hard core traffic violators are not going to change their behaviour. So, all in all, I don't think a traffic ticket quota is making much of a dent in the behaviour of most motorists. But if everyone is really so outraged than there is a way to get back at the police departments- "Dont break the traffic laws" Of course if everyone would really do that the cities and counties would have to look for other ways to raise revenue - like raising your taxes. But really the quotas are not going to stop the huge amount of hardcore traffic violators who will right after getting a ticket drive away and as soon as out of sight of the police push the pedal to the metal. January 12 The Music Will the band "The SolitaireOne" be making any new recordings this new year? There does not seem to be any rush, but their is talk about it of course. My latest discussion has been with one of the musicians who in the past recorded with The SolitaireOne. He has told me more he is wanting to get together and do some recording. I am also kind of in the mood to do a recording. So it might happen pretty soon. But then again I've said that before. It seems we just don't seem to be getting it together much these days. For one thing everyone is so busy right now. But I can't say it won't happen. Well we shall see. December 08 The SolitaireOneThe SolitiareOne is a primarly a blues and classic rock band who's sound is kind of throwback to the 60s. A sound meld of styles similar to the styles of Eric Burdon and the Animals, Creedance Clear Water, Rolling Stones and Tom Petty rolled into one. While some of the bands music reminds one of the 60s British Invasion their recording of a jazzy blues single called "Betty Grey Belle" that reminds one of a James Bond Movie with it's soulful style of music. Though at times there has been as many as 4 people in the band playing together. Yet for some reason there has never been more than two on any single recording. In most of the older recordings there has been only one person. Some of the more recent recordings have had a very very significant influence. That being of the newest member. She is a talented singer, writer, and key board player and a long time former member of successful band. So now with this new injection of additional talent with a different style- there is a fresh new sound resulting from a meld of styles. The result is that right now a number of recordings in process have two people in them. It was headed for 3 even 4 but the bass player has become unable to continue at least for some time. That is now problem for the recordings since the main member and founder of this studio band as plays bass as well as other intruments. So we will keep plugging along and keep recordings for now and enjoying the process. In the past some have commented that The SolitaireOne had in it's sound traces or elements of the styles of Tom Petty, Creedance Clearwater, and Steely Dan, TheWho, Eric Burdon, and the Rolling Stones even Neil Young was once mentioned. But with this new injection of talent it will be interesting to see what people say about the sounds of some of the new songs coming out from The SolitaireOne. October 07 The WHo Remember The WHo? That English band formed in 1964? Silly question for fans of "The WHo". Ask any serios fan and they can quickly name the The primary lineup which consisted of guitarist Pete Townshed, vocalist Roger Daltrey, bassist John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon. The Who as a band were well known for their energetic live performances. In one concert the band destroyed their instruments on stage. Many will say "The WHo" is one of the most influential rock bands of the 1960s and '70s and one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time. One indication might be the fact that they were inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
Here is a YouTube Video of "The Who" in 1966 with their song "Substitute".
October 06 Free Music Downloads We have over 30 songs on the band site of "The SolitaireOne". A bunch of those songs can be downloaded for free. Why do we do this? Because that is how we get to be known by others. We are an independent band and like so many other indie groups underground we don't have a big label carrying us. We are not gong to be on American Idol as we are stickly a studio band and we do this music for our love of it not become famous. However, we do like to share our music like anyone else. So outside of a rare live perfomance we post our music on the internet where people can get aquainted with our music just for the sake of hearing music by independents instead of always just from the large labels only.
August 03 Controlling Your Own Thoughts Can Improve Your Health Just how does the mind and emotions work? Close your eyes for a few moments and remember a day in your life that was so wonderful and filled with joy. Remember the scenery? Remember the sounds? Remember the smells? Just relax and keep thinking about this most happy moment. As you think and remember - how do you feel? Remember the feeling the joy the happiness? Notice how the feelings come back. And do you notice how as the feelings come back so do more memories and thoughts about what you experienced at the joyful moment? You see how thoughts can effect your emotions? And you see how emotions or feelings can effect your thoughts? Yes and you just made them happen. Now this is powerful stuff!
By understanding this we can improve our control of our emotions and attitude to a large extent. Professionals do it- Good actors and good actresses of the screen are good because they can control their thoughts and emotions for the part they are playing Some actresses can just think about the time their favorite puppy died and by remembering that and the feelings they can turn on real tears. Those same actors and actresses can become very joyful by remembering and imagining a moment of great joy. So this is the way people can control their moods to some degree.
Research has found that your brain really does not know the difference between real and the imaginary. If you imagine being in a wonderful place with peaceful and beautiful sights, and sounds, and smells you can begin to feel the same kind of feelings you'd have if you were actually there for real. It takes practice but it works. Ever had a dream that was so real that when you woke up you were surprised it was just a dream? That's how powerful imagination and visialization is!! You can day dream and get the same kind of effect. Sports coaches have been teaching this stuff to professional athletes. Why? Because it works!
Go back to your memory of the joyful time. Did you remember the good smells. Maybe you were at a county fair and you could smell pop corn and corn dogs and cotton candy. Ever notice even to day if you smell those smells again - how memories of good times come to mind again?? A fragrance, a sound of a bird, the pitter patter of rain on a car roof all can trigger memories good or bad. So too we can use this to create an attitude and mood. THis is how music effects us.
What would happen if each morning when a person rises they start out the day by first spending 3 to 5 minutes thinking about a wonderful moment or day they had in the past? Think about something funny if you can. Also laugh outloud for about 60 seconds. As you do this you begin to release some good feeling homones and you begin to feel better. Just really get into a good mood. Then the first person you see in the morning say to them "Good Morning" in a cheerful voice.- (not too cheerful so you don't get slapped LOL) Researchers have found that if you start out a day in a great mood it will most likely have a better day and feel better and have more energy. IF you start out with thoughs of dread and doom you will have a bad day and be exhausted before it's over. Research shows that laughter and smiles and good moods create an elevated ph level which is good for your body. It is good for your health and reduces stress and stess hormones like cortisone.
Try this and see what happens. Then write me back here and tell me how it worked out. August 01 Right Here On SoundClick Hits # 10 on Sounclick Chart Don't know if it will stay there for more than a day but it finally hit number 10 on the Guitar Rock Chart of Sound Click. Hope to see it there for at least a couple days if not longer. IF it goes any higher it will be a surprise to us because the competition is extremely tough on this chart. We will see what happens over the weekend. July 29 Look Confident And Strong When Out and AboutScientists have observed in their studies that we have hardwired into our brains the survival instinct to make ourselves appear smaller when under attack.
How do we make our selves smaller? We do it by hunching our shoulders forward and in and pulling our arms in close to the body, at the same time pressing our knees together and locking our ankles under a chair. We will at the same time drop the chin to the chest to protect the throat, and avert our gaze by looking away. The result is that a defensive attacker who is only about to attack out of fear of themselves being attacked will see these gestures as non-offensive and they will then cancel their attack.
However, with a predator type attacker – that is someone who is looking for weak appearing individuals to prey on, this appearing smaller is going to invite the attack.
So how can this kind of knowledge help a person? In two ways. 1.) If a person deserves a reprimand and is being reprimanded by an authority like a judge or supervisor then appearing smaller may prevent the reprimand from escalating. However a person must remeber that this appearing small won’t matter to a bully. So don’t even try it with a bully because the bully has something in common with the predator and that is a thing called aggressiveness. So appearing smaller to a bully only invited more attack. But to a non-aggressive judge or supervisor who is not a bully this appearing small acts like an “off switch” in their brain and so they will cut short or cancel their attack or reprimand. They will feel it is not longer needed.
2.) This knowledge can help us in antoher way. When we are walking out to our car in the parking lot we don’t want to appear small. Predators that are out randomly selecting victims will look for weak appearing victims. They are like a lion that only preys on the sick and weak of the heard. So when you're walking out to your car in the parking lot rememgber predators could be watching. In this case we want to hold our shoulders back, chin up, swinging arms, taking big strides. Hold keys in hand like a weapon and look confident of defending yourself. This signals to the predator who is randomly selecting victims that you might be capable of defending yourself. To most predators this is seen as too much of a hassle and risk. Remember random attackers are predators that look for weak appearing people and see them at their most easy prey. If you look like you would put up a fight they will go looking somewhere else for someone that looks weak and small.
By the way a side note. Some martial aritsts Know how to use this looking small to their advantage. If they see they are about to be attacked they may then appear small for the purpose of tricking the assailant into being overly confident and assuming with great error that they can attack with full force. This is what the warrior martial artists wants. As the predator mistakely gets in close with full force the martial artist surprises the assailant by redirecting the full force of the attacker who now is quite open so that the attacker becomes off balance and is very much open to a devastating counter attack. So body language has been and is employed in peaceful means and in violence. Body language is powerful communication and people and animals all respond to it in one way or another.
So there you have another tidbit in todays's lesson in body language 101. July 24 The Buzz on SC over Our New Song We have been pretty excited lately with the amount of buzz developing in SC concerning our latest song "Right Here On SounClick". One of our fans wrote and said we had better get # 1 on the charts because of the quality of this recording. I don't know if we'll get # 1 but it would be nice to again be in the top 10. The problem is that we placed this song in one of the charts that has the most competion. That is the Guitar Rock and Rock charts. The number of songs on those charts is huge. If we get into the top 20 we will be doing very well. We need to get a lot of listens for that to happen. But the word is getting out and we hope to soon have a lot more listens of the song. We have not yet made it available for down load. We've been watching to see if we want to do that or not. If the number of listens per day continues to increase we may be persuaded to make this song available for down load. We are just watching the statistics right now to see what happens.
People are telling us the rythm on this song is catching and they fall right into the groove of the song as they listen. Some have told us the clarity of recording really makes it easy to hear the tones of the intruments and the singing. They like this very clear recording. We never changed any recording equipment. We chose to record the song in live studio sound so people can turn up the music and hear it on a large set of speakers and feel like they are right there in the studio. The music on this recording is panned out so if one sits right between the speakers they feel more like they are right in the studio with us. So for those who love the 60s sound of the Kinks, Stones, and other similar bands from back then this might be a good listening experience. We hope so. July 15 People Seem To Gravitate To People Like ThemselvesIt's interesting what researchers find when the study human behaviour. Some of it just seems like common knowledge but still they put a little of their scientific observation type flavor on it. Here are few things about what kind of people we gravitate towards. Some will say opposites attract maybe but look at these factoids.
1. People hire people like themselves.
2. People like to buy from people like themselves.
3. People like to date people like themselves.
4. People lend money to people like themselves.
5. add your own observations the list is endless.
As the saying goes birds of a feather flock together. Show me who your friends are and I will show you who you are like. All these things have been observed my many. Often a mother will notice this quite a lot when she is concerned about who her kids are associating with. So to a mother this is probably just old common sense. But sometimes we don't seem to recognize just how much this fact affects so much of our lives in everthing from jobs, school, to socializing. It can be seen even in the wider circle of a family. Which cousins like to be together, what siblings get along best. So forth. But also it can been see in what kind of confratations sometimes take place even in the family. Sometimes someone like us displays something we don't cozy up to and in yet we ourselves display that same trait. We rarely recognize it in oursleves. So even the best of friends and closest family can have disagreements and slight irritations at times just because we all have something in our personality that when mirrored irriatates us. But still those most like us also are the ones we tend to most like. So it may sound crazy but then that's the way we do. Odd? Well not to the experts. They call this synchronizing. The claim from the time we are born we begin to synchronize. First with our mothers. Then with others as we grow. We are sensitive to feed back from our peers and family and so forth. We tend to synchronize to them and they to us. When we are out of synch with someone it just doesn't feel right. WE don't cozy up to people we are out of synch with.
Synchronizing can be observed in cafe's and social gatherings. You can see which ones are facing and almost copying each others postures and manerisms. I've personally experimented with this. It's amazing how well it works. WE all do this with without thinking about it. But when one knows how to initiate it they can use it to build rapport with another person. TO creat that I'm Like You feeling in the other person. Very interesting study in itself. July 14 The Eyes Have to MoveHere is a way to give someone a brain lock. Challenge a friend to answer the following questions without moving his/her eyes. Tell them to look straight at you the whole time keeping their eyes perfectly still. Then ask them the first question:
"Do you like the house (or apartment) you live in?"
Depending on whether he/she answers yes or no ask these followup questions;
"Quickly list 6 things you like (or don't like) abouit where you live."
You will notice that as long as he/she does not move their eyes they will either not be able to anwer or they will have an extremely hard time trying. The reason is that in order for them to thing about what they like or don't like they have to see in their mind what the house (or apartment) looks like, feels like, smells like, etc. They can't do this unless they move their eyes.
When ever you ask someone an off the wall question you will notice they always move their eyes to one side before they answer. This is how they retrieve information from their memory. They must move their eyes. WHen a person is dreaming their eyes move back in forth in rapid eye movment. It's like they are playing a fast movie.
Try this with a friend or family. Take their pictures and just before each shot say to them different words for poses. Say for instance to them for this shot just dream. Watch their eyes as soon as they hear that word. Say the word secret and watch their eyes. Just one word can cause they eyes to look to one side or the other and up or down at the same time. Say the word romantic or thoughtful and you'll usually see their eyes move down and to the left or right. They eyes communicate what kind of sensory memory is being accessed. Ask someone what their favorite color shirt is and they will move their eyes to one of six positions. Ask them what their favorite cologne smells like and they will look again to a specific direction. Ask a woman what silk feels like and they usually will look down and to the right. Try some of these and tell me kind of eye movements you observed.
You Can Develop Your Star Quality Every meet someone and right from the minute they say hi you seem to notice something special about them? Sure we all probably have. Well there is a simple way to actually develop that same kind of energy so that others get the same feeling about us. Here is an exercise that helps a person learn how to emit or "Fire that energy" Got this from the book "How to Make People Like You in 90 seconds or less" by Boothman
You need a partner to do this with. But here is how it works:
You and your partner stand about 8 feet apart facing each other. Kind of like your two gun fighters in a cowboy movie. Now as you say "Hi" to you partner you clap your hands together and slide your giht hand off and past the other in the direction of your partner. Gather up all the neergy you can throughout your body and store it in your heart, then clap the energy on through you right hand (the one you use to shake hands) straight into th eother person 's heart. This is only takes about one or two seconds. But when your body, heartt, eyes, smile, clap and voice/breath are fired at the person in a rapid flash ther is a vast transfer of energy. (Is it electromagnetic? I don't know but you can feel it)
Immediately after receiving the energy, your partner should fire it back at you in the same way. Take turns doing this fast and focused. Be sure to use your body, heart, eyes, smile, voice, and clap. Do this for two whole minutes.
Next doing this same excercie aim your energy at different locations of your partner. For example aim the energy at their head. THen their throat, then solar plexus and then their heart and so forth. Next as you take turns doing this don't tell each other what kind of energy your firing at each other. Just think to your self if it it is heart to heart or head to head or heart to head etc. Now fire that energy the same way as before and then have your partner tell you what kind of energy they felt.
When you get better at this you will begin to be able to feel which energy is focused and where. At this point you are now getting the abilty to emit this star quality that some people just naturally emit when the meet someone. You now have learned hot to emit it also. OF course you will not stand eight feet from somone when you meet them you will not just point your hand at them. You will shake their hand but at the same time you will fire this energy at them making them feel it.
HEre are a few things to know and practice even before you do this exercise. Get used to looking at the eyes of people you meet and greet and try to notice the color of their eyes. Mentally tell yourself the color of their eyes as you see it. Always do this and you will then automatically being showing interest in them as a person.
Always use an open body language when you meet them. To do this first notice your own attitude and adjust it to a positive attitude. Remember the body never lies about your attitude. So think positive and expect wonderful things as you meet someone and your body language will say that. So practice feeling a positive attitude. We all now and then have experienced that and so remembering what that feels like all you have to do is concentrate of feeling that again based on what you remember it feels like. Feel it? Okay now your body language will automatically show that. So think postive. Aim your heart directly at the person. Don't cover your heart with your hands or arms. Wearing an suit jacket over your attire. Unbotton it it.
Be the first to smile. Don't smile too fast though. People that smile really quick are often mistrusted now days. This is because of the salesman image the newer generations have in their minds. So be first to start the slow smile. Then slowly let the smile grow. A slow (not too slow) smile is seen as sincere. And eye contact of interest is seen as sincere interest. Open posture is seen as acceptance and friendly.
Be sure when you say the word "Hi" or "Hello" it is with a very pleasing toneality. Be sure to attach your name to it if this is a first time enounter. Extend your hand and ask them their name if you don't know them. Find a way to repeat that name up to three times during the conversation so that you remember it. You can do that like when they say Hi I'm George. YOu say right back it's nice to meet you George. NOw you have already said the name once you just need to find ways in the conversation to say the name a couple more times. Now put your listening ears on. Don't do all the talking. Instead ask some open questions to get them talking. That again shows interest.
July 13 MultiSound Radio MultiSound Radio playing a variety of new stuff by new artists- and some of the music is available for free downloading! Click here for free listening. July 11 The Eyebrows Communicate Long Distance The eyebrow flash can be seen from several feet away and is fairly easy to read. A person will raise their eyebrows rapidly for a split second and then drop them again. This signal is used in most every culture. Don't use it in Japan. There it is considered impolite and improper. But everywhere else pretty much it's accepted and practiced. What the eyebrow flash gets interpreted to to mean is that the person who does the eyebrow flash acknowledges the other person's presence. The eyebrow flash is basically saying; "I'm surprised and I am not threatening to you" This is a very powerful signal that others respond to.
A person can sit in a relatively safe place like a hotel lobby or instance and just eyebrow flash people walking by. And often the people will smile and even some will come over and start talking. So this body language technique is good to apply when you are meeting people you like or want to like you. I have a friend who always does this at the same time he smiles and says hello. And I've seen him repeatedly in a crowd meeting new people etc and he just seems to attract people like a magnet. The really warm up to him. And it's easy to see why. He smiles and flashes the eyebrows repeatedly while people are talking to him. THey then just keep talking. That's the eyebrow flash. Very powerful when done with sincerity. .
July 09 Body Language Tip Gerard I. Nierenberg, in his book "How to Read A person Like A Book" discusses the value of using open gestures. The book points out that these open gestures include open hands and uncrossed arms as well as occasional suble movements toward the other person that says "Hey I'm with you" They show acceptance. Clothing is involved also. For instance an open suit coat or jacket exposed the heart. Then used with open arms signals "Things are well". Postive open gestures reach out to others. The gestures in most cases are slow and deliberate.
SO when you meet someone new (you want to meet), immediately point your heart warmly at that persons heart. This is a very powerful body signal. The other person will pick up on it without realizing it. THey just feel a bit better about you if you expose your heart. Keep your arms uncrossed, and your stance somewhat open. If your sitting on a chair lean forward a bit. This all says "I'm with you and all it well".
Don't misread the other person's signals. If their arms remain crossed and one of or both of their feet are aiming away from you - you are not being well received or they are cold and need to go to the bathroom. So don't jump to conclusions just be observant and if they are warming up to you they will start to show it. If your not impressing them at all their body language will continue to be closed. But remember if your visual communication is positive and open they may start to reciprocate as long as you not sending mixed signals. Remember your words and tone must match you body language. If they don't match then you will be mistrusted. Hey how can one make their body language and words match?
By thinking good postivive things about the person and being genuinely interested. Also being very good listener. THinking positive thoughts about that person and being interested in them will then cause you to feel warmth toward the person that will then create a useful attitude that will in turn support and direct good body lanaguage. SO think positive and upbeat while using open gestures. Be carefu! If you add this with good listening skills- people may find you charismatic. Your Body Can't Lie! Here is a truth for everyone on the planet. The human body does not know how to lie. We can lie with our mouth and even to some extent with our face for relatively short periods of time. (watch the unhappy sales clerks at department stores as they wear a phony smile all day long- it starts to give way as the day wears on) The truth of the matter is what we think effects what we feel and what we feel affects our attitude and our attitude triggers our body language.
Try this experiment. Think of the most sad thing you have experienced or seen in your life. Now look in the mirror. You don't look happy. Now look away from the mirror and now think of the most funny thing you have ever seen. Visualize it until you start to laugh. Look in the mirror. What happened? Your thoughts created or triggered feelings. Your feelings created an attitude which your body then advertised. Your body advertised from the toes to the head. THe posture, the movement, and more. We also tend to dress in ways that communicate. Just like a moth may have a kind of frightening design on it's wings to discourage it's potential predators or a bird maby be very beautiful to attract a mate. Or a flower is very colorful to attract bees to polinate the flowers. So we dress, and posture based on our attitudes and feelings. We are very visual creatures. How visible and revealing are we?
It's interesting that in the animal world visual communication can be very powerful. I remember the story of a show horse that could do arithmatic. The owner would take the horse out in the middle of a circus ring or horse show so that all the audience could see the horse. He would then ask the horse in a loud voice for the audience to hear a simple arithmatic problem. "What's 2 + 5?" he yell out loud. The horse would then tap his hoof on the ground 7 times. Everyone was astonished. Could this horse really do arithmatic? "What's 3 - 1?" The horse would tap his hoof on the ground 2 times.
Well a scientist got interested in this and went to one of the shows. He asked the owner of the horse if he ask the horse a few problems. The owner agreed. So right before the audience he asked a few simple addition and subtraction problems. The horse got them all correct. So then the scientist said I am going to ask this horse again one of the same problems. So he did. But this time he went up the the ear of the horse and whispered just loud enough for only the owner and himself to hear it. Then he stepped back out of the sight of the horse. Now the horse just stood there and did nothing. HE did it again and again. A couple of times the horse tapped it's hoof on the ground but got the answer wrong. What happened??? Why couldn't the horse get the answer right. They owner was instructed to do the same but it was no use the horse could not get the answer.
Well after talking with the owner the scientist was able to find out that the horse had been trained always with someone who know the correct answer always in his sight. THe horse learned to read the audience body language. You see when the audience could hear the question their body language would reveal when the horse had tapped it's foot enough times . SO when the horse was asked "What's 2 + 5?" the horse would slowly tap its hoof while watching the audience. At trhe moment the horse had tapped it's hood the seventh time the body language of the audience changed. The horse then knew it should stop.
Now talk about gifted horses! They can read body language that we don't even realize we are displaying. Ask any horse owner and trainer and they will tell you how tuned into strangers body language they are. Well we may not be as good at it as a horse but we are also sensitive to the body language we see. And we all display it all the time. Our bodies don't lie. Our attitudes direct our visual communicatons to the world!! July 07 It's Not Just the WordsWhat do we pay most attention to when someone is speaking to us? What do we believe the most when we see and hear someone talking? A professor emeritus of psychology at UCLA named Albert Mehrabian, carried out a study in 1967 in which he determined that believability depends on the congruity of three aspects of communication. He reported in a paper titled "Decoding of Inconsistent Communication" the percentages of a message expressed through the different communications channels we use in a face to face communication. Here is what those percentages are:
The actual words we hear are only 7% of what we respond to when someone is talking to us.
38% of what we respond to is the sound of the voice speaking how the tone is and how it changes etc.
And 55% of what we respond to takes place visually!!!!
So if you say something and you're tone does not match the words and your body language does not match the words then I won't believe you. The study showed that the way we act, dress, move, gesture, and so forth is what people will pay the most attention to.
No wonder some actors and actresses are so successful and others are not. We don't find a bad actor believable in his/her portrayal of a character unless they look, and sound the part. June 27 MicroSleep - Are You In Danger? Ever wonder while your driving down the road just how many drivers around you might actually be asleep with their eyes open?
I was reading a little blurp about MICROSLEEP. Microsleep is a five to ten second episode where your brain is effectively asleep while you are otherwise up and about. Microsleep can occur at any moment any where. It can happen while your driving your car!!! And in fact it does!! And we keep hearing about cell phones. We got some very dangerous conditions out on the highways. Traffic on the streets is a very dangerous situation that requires alertness. But a large number of people on the road are not alert due not getting enough rest. They are experiencing this microsleep mode frequently as they drive.
Microsleep comes on a person while their eyes are wide open!! Microsleep is the way the body attempts to compensate for under-sleeping. IF one does not get enough sleep at night the body will throughout the day go into these brief 10 second moments of sleep. This sudden drowsiness comes in waves. One moment a person is alert the next they are drowsy and not knowing the difference.
If one dares to think about it-it's frightening. A tired bus driver with a full load of passengers headed down the highway going into microsleep mode repeatedly as he drives. A truck driver going into mirosleep as his big rig is racing down hills hauling a load of hazardous chemicals. Tired mothers transporting their babies!!! The most common cause of this microsleep occurrence is lack of a good nights rest each night. Please everyone try to get a good night sleep!! If you can't try to find the reasons why. Some may need to check with t doctor. But for your safety and all those around you please get the needed rest. |
